We are a whanau-oriented campground located 30km from Rotorua. Whether you are a small or large group, we are here to make your stay at Ōkataina Outdoor Education Centre an enjoyable one.

About the Centre
Surrounded by 4,500 hectares of native bush and a variety of walkways the Centre enjoys total seclusion. Our picturesque location boasts plenty of space for large groups.
School groups are encouraged to come during the school weeks and is available to large groups in the weekends and during the school holidays.
Facilities in main dormitories accommodating 91beds, a fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer and storeroom, a dining/meeting room, two study rooms and toilet block with hot/cold showers. Activities are centre around the native bush, wildlife and water.

Nothing is off the table when it comes to experiencing the outdoors, especially in a natural environment such as Ōkataina. There is so much to explore in and around the area! Whether you have 30 minutes or 3 hours, there is a walk to suit all ages and abilities.
Team Building
Sufficient space is provided at OOEC for different team activities, large or small. With just under a hectare of plush land available, various activities can be set up to cater all groups and individuals.
Water Adventures & Activities
With Lake Ōkataina in close vicinity, numerous water activities can be set up for groups to cater for their learning needs. Whether it’s kayaking or swimming, the water facilities are there to suit your needs.
Whanau fun for all ages
